The massive businesses of the world are responsible for millions of dollars in charity every year. Companies of all disciplines pride themselves on being able to flaunt their donation total at the end of the year. However, companies go about things in different ways, some simply donate large sums while others take a more hands on approach. In the case of Microsoft, a combination of both leads to very good philanthropic profile. With Microsoft being a technology company, the way that they do philanthropy is different than a food giant for example. Microsoft has many programs that they both own and aid that are involved in they do their charity. The range of topics that are covered is expected to be small, however, it is actually quite comprehensive. â€Å"YouthSpark Hub resources are desig ned to inspire youth about the full spectrum of computing skills, ranging from digital literacy to computer science engineering† (Microsoft News center, News.Microsoft.com). In fact, Microsoft’s commitment to the program is only growing. In September of 2015 Microsoft announced a new commitment of $75 million in community investments over the next three years to increase access to computer science education for all youth, and especially for those from under-represented backgrounds. Through the company’s global YouthSpark initiative, many nonprofit organizations around the world will receive cash donations and other resources to provide computer science education to young people in their communities and prepare them with the problem-solving skills needed for success in the increasingly digital world. Microsoft is also creating new programs that will work through YouthSpark, as well committing to its partners. Over the next three years, Microsoft will deliver on t his commitment through cash grants and nonprofit partnerships, as well as program and content offerings to increase access to computer science education and build skills
